back on track

I’m back!  Mexico was great!  My tan has instantly faded!  The piles of snow that seem to be endlessly falling from the sky are amazing!  The stoke that everyone seams to have for winter is even better! (and that’s not even just the Fernie newbies).

Announcement:!!!!: Barrie Elliott is my new Sous Chef @ Picnic!  She has just returned from finishing her 3rd and final year of here apprenticeship and will be challenging here new skills as my #1 chef.

Things seem to be rolling pretty fast around here.  I am playing a little catch-up for a couple days but with optimistic views on everything.  A couple new menu items, a couple new staff, a couple new ideas……here we go!

they’re back!

Oysters are back in full swing!  2 or 3 kinds of fresh shucked oysters (usually a mix of east and west coast) served with fresh lemon, mignonette, and house made sweet chili.  Sweet specials on these tasty little morsels every Thursday night along with cheap beer and wine.  Come by and check ‘em out so we can shuck and you can slurp!

oyster fest~!

Hi all, we’ve decided to enter in an oyster shucking competition in Calgary on Aug 5th.  Lance and I have both entered for fun and good times.  I’m pretty stoked.  It’s going to be poolside at the Hotel Arts and people in the crowd will be tasting beers, champagne and oysters.  We’re hoping to open a few eyes about Fernie’s food scene.  Get the word out there.  Oh yeah and kick some alberta shuckers’ ass!

I’ll leave you with a joke:  What’s the difference between and epileptic oyster shucker and a hooker with diahreah?  Well, the first one; shucks between fits…………………….hahahahahah!

It’s all systems go for this Friday’s Sex and The City Cancer fundraiser!!  It’s going to be crazy!  starting @ 10:30 approximately 125 ladies dressed in their best NY/Ahbu Dhabi style duds will be drinking cosmos, getting their photos taken and buying men’s work services auction style.

I’m back

Maybe no one really noticed, maybe no one really cared, I don’t know, but I did just get back from a 5 day excursion to the island and Vancouver.  Nothing changed while I was gone, but we do have a new event coming up:

“Sex and the City 2…the after party”  It’s a big fundraiser that the ‘Snow Sisters” are putting on to raise money for their team’s contribution in the “Cancer Relay For Life” here in Fernie.  The Fernie relay is a huge event every year and was the biggest cancer fundraiser in the Kootenays last year.  The “Sex….” party starts with the showing of the movie at the Vogue theater and ends up at Picnic with cosmos, “male service” auction, glam photo shoot, trays of hors d’oeuvres, Dj and dancing.  Sounds like just another ladies night at Picnic to me….good times.

It begins!
